Costa Rica is positively irresistible. And, El Progreso is just a short 25 minute drive to the beaches!

Costa Rica is often called the “Switzerland of the Americas,” a title deserving because its neutral political stance and the fact that Costa Rica has no standing military.

Tourism and foreign investment are governmental priorities. The infrastructure—roads, bridges and ports—are well maintained and the climate is nearly perfect, having only two seasons, Gold (Summer) and Green (Winter). This is paradise for the nature and outdoor enthusiast with beautiful beaches of white or black sand, valleys, mountains, waterfalls, volcanoes, National Parks and biological reserves, awesome sunrises on the Caribbean and romantic sunsets on the Pacific.

The economy of Costa Rica was based on agriculture until a decade ago when tourism replaced coffee as the gross national product. In the last 10 years tourism has increased more than 500%. In 2002, one million tourists visited the country. Costa Rica is expecting over four million by the end of 2007. In 2000 over $711 million was invested in the tourism sector, last year over $759 million was invested, the majority being spent in the Guanacaste region.
